The Ultimate Guide to Permanent PVC Inflatable Repairs

You’ve found the leak—but you know a quick fix won’t last. Temporary patches waste your time, cut into fun time, and disappoint you.
What you need is a factory-grade repair that’s permanent and reliable.

This guide walks you through the same professional process we use in production. It’s simple, but it must be done right.

🔧 What You’ll Need

Before starting, get the proper materials. The wrong tools guarantee failure.

  • PVC Vinyl Glue – Not super glue or all-purpose glue. Use the glue specifically made for inflatables (included in most Crocpad repair kits).

  • PVC Patch Material – Must match your inflatable’s fabric type with 3-5cm larger than the hole.

  • Small Brush – For smooth, even glue application.

  • Hairdryer – A basic one with hot and cold settings works perfectly.

  • Flat, Hard Tool – Like a wood block or plastic scraper for pressing.

🧊 The “Cold–Hot” Factory Method

This is the secret to a lasting repair. The key is timing and patience.

Step Action Why It Matters
1. Prep Clean the damaged area and make sure it’s completely dry. Dirt and moisture will ruin your bond.
2. Apply Glue Brush a thin, even layer of PVC glue onto both surfaces — around the hole and the back of the patch. Thick layers weaken the seal. Even coverage is stronger.
3. Cold Air Dry Use your hairdryer on COLD. Blow air on both glued areas and check every 30 seconds. Wait until the glue feels dry and tack-free — this is the perfect bonding window.
4. Apply & Press Place the patch over the hole carefully. Press firmly from the center out to push out air bubbles. A smooth surface ensures a tight seal.
5. Hot Air Bond Switch to HOT. Warm the patch while pressing down firmly with your flat tool, moving back and forth. The heat reactivates the glue, creating a weld-like, permanent bond.
6. Cure Leave the inflatable untouched in a cool, dry area for at least 24 hours. Don’t inflate it. The chemical bond needs time to fully set and strengthen.

🧠 Pro Tip

Most people fail because they rush. They slap on glue, skip the cold stage, and the patch peels within a week.
By following this factory-tested cold–hot process, you’ll create a professional-grade repair that lasts for years.
